Mosquito Bite Home Remedies

Is there anything more annoying than a fresh mosquito bite? Well, yes, there is. A door knocker trying to sell you something JUST as you step into the shower, a telemarketer that calls just as you put the first mouthful of dinner into your mouth, and unexpected company when you just sat down with your favourite snacks to binge on some streaming TV.

Mosquito bites are right up there on the annoying chart there. You can buy some expensive off the shelf products that may or may not actually stop the scratching, or you can dive into one of these old-school home cures that are bound to have you scratch free in no time.

Ice cubes

Might seem like a no-brainer but freezing the bite area will stop that annoying itch. The same way that ice helps with a green ant bite or the odd stubbed toe, ice will help bring the inflammation down and numb the nerve to ease your suffering.

Tea bags

If you would rather keep the ice cube for your drink, then brew yourself up a cuppa as another cure is at your fingertips. Literally. The tea bag that you would normally discard is perfect for helping with Mosquito bites. The tannins that are in the tea will help neutralise the toxin that the Mosquito left behind and ease the bite. Plus, if you leave it a little warm, it’s nice and soothing. Just don’t put it on straight from your cup. You don’t want to have to deal with an itch and a burn.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Is there nothing that ACV can’t do? Well, it can’t NOT smell like baby sick, but hey, at least it’s effective at doing a lot of great things for your health. It’s also great for Mosquito bites. Like the tea bags, the acid in ACV will help break down the toxins and give you that relief. It might not smell as good as the tea bags, but it does work quicker.

Another thing that will help you out with a mosquito problem is to book in a session with the fantastic folks at Little Critters Pest Control. Then you can save the tea bags for a nice cuppa for them as well.
